FAQs & Information

General Questions

  1. What is grading and why should I grade my cards?

Grading is the submission of your cards to an authorized third party (such as PSA) to verify the authenticity and quality of your cards, as well as encase them in a protective holder. If you're interested in selling, buyers generally have more confidence in the authenticity of graded cards and higher graded cards usually sell for a higher price. If you're not interested in selling, grading still provides an opportunity to better protect and memorialize your favorite cards.

  2. Why grade through Skybox Collectibles LLC?

Skybox Collectibles offers an all-inclusive PSA submission service so you don't have to worry about:

    • The PSA membership fee
    • PSA submission paperwork and card sorting
    • Packing and shipping materials, costs, and labor
    • Shipping & insurance
  3. What grade will my card get?

There are 4 categories on which PSA evaluates your cards:

    • Surface: How free of blemishes such as scratches, creases, etc. the front and back of the card are.
    • Edges: How little whitening, wear, dents, etc. there are on the sides of the card.
    • Corners: Similar to edges, but focusing on the corners of the card.
    • Centering: How centered the art of the card is both vertically and horizontally.

The closer your card is to perfect across these categories, the more likely it will score a high grade. We're happy to take a look at your card, but please understand that we aren't PSA graders and can't guarantee what grade your card will get.

  4. Can we submit other collectibles such as comic books, funko pops, or memorabilia?

Currently, we do not offer those services. We will submit regular-sized standard cards (Sports, Entertainment, and TCG).

  5. Where is my card?

Getting your cards graded is unfortunately not the fastest process. On average, it takes about 3 months to get graded cards back and can take longer. However, PSA does keep us updated on our submissions. You can check the status of your cards with our submission tracker. Please note that only the email associated with your submitted form will have access to this spreadsheet.

  6. Can I mail you my cards to grade?

At the moment, we are only taking cards through in-store drop-off.

  7. Can you submit my cards to BGS or CGC?

We currently do not do submissions to BGS, CGC, SGC, or other grading card companies other than PSA.

  8. What is the Card Review service?

The review is done by a grading professional, it entails using a centering tool, blacklight, a digital microscope, and lighting tools. The cards will be assessed for alterations/fakes, as well as any issues that would affect its grade and results will be communicated to the customer to determine if they want to continue to grade the card.

  9. What is the Wipe Down Service?

This is completed using a card repair/cleaning kit. Soft gloves are worn, microfiber cloth and cleaning spray is used. Can make adjustments on dents/bends/creases and structural damage. Will not make any adjustments that do not seem possible or have a chance of damaging the card

Submission Guidelines

  1. Form Instructions

    • Include your name and contact details.
    • Declared value is the graded value, not the raw value.
    • For multiples of the same card, total declared value = Value Graded x number of cards.
    • Include Parallel or Variation Details (e.g., Blue Scope Prizm, Red Cracked Ice, Refractor).
    • Use a separate form for each submission level.
  2. Card Holders

    • PSA accepts only cards in Semi Rigid Card Holders or Toploaders.
    • Cards in one-touch magnets or screw downs or without a toploader/semi rigid will incur a $1 charge per card.
  3. Card Alteration

    • We do not accept trimmed or modified cards.
    • Trimmed & Unauthentic Cards will be responsible for any charges incurred during the grading process for that card by the owner.
  4. Upcharge Fees

    • PSA may charge an additional fee based on the card's value after grading.
    • Cards will not be returned until this fee is paid.
  5. Right to Decline

    • We reserve the right to decline any order.

Additional FAQs

  1. Do I get regular updates on the progress of my order?

Yes, whenever there is movement in the grading process, your cards will be updated in our submission tracking spreadsheet.

  5. What additional fees apply beyond the grading fee?

There is just the base grading fee, and if you added any additional services those will be charged as well. There is a $1 per card charge for any cards submitted that are not in a toploader or semi-rigid protector. PSA may also upcharge your order based on the declared value.

  6. Are my orders insured during shipping?

Yes, cards are insured going to and from PSA.

  7. When does the “Estimated Turn-Around Time” start?

The turn-around times start when your cards arrive at the PSA facility and are entered into PSA’s system.

  8. How do I submit my cards if I drop them off?

Please fill out our submission form [Link Here] ahead of time for drop-off, or fill out a submission form in-store.

  9. When will you ship my cards to PSA?

We plan on shipping cards out to PSA on a weekly basis. At the moment we are submitting value on a monthly basis and soon on a bi-weekly basis. We ship out value plus bi-weekly. We ship out Regular and above weekly.

  10. When will I be invoiced, and how do I pay?

Payment must be completed upon initial submission of cards. Our submissions expert or a retail associate will ring you out through our point of sale system.

  11. Will you crack my cards out of an existing slab and submit them raw for me?

Due to potential liability reasons, we are not comfortable with cracking any existing slabs out of their holder. We suggest watching an informative video and trying it out on an inexpensive slab.

  12. What is "DV" or Declared Value?

PSA defines the DV as “The Declared Value is your estimate of the value of the item after it has been assigned a grade by PSA.” Since we do not know the grades until they are assigned by PSA, this is just an estimate as to what you think it has the best chance of being graded at. Essentially, your DV acts as your insurance value on your card in the event that PSA were to damage the card in the grading process. PSA reserves the right to upcharge to a higher service level if they determine the DV to exceed the estimate.

  13. Can I send my cards in toploaders or card sleeves?

You can submit your cards in either toploaders or semi-rigid card holders. Please remove any tape or team bags from the cards. Any cards submitted without a toploader or semi-rigid are subject to a $1 per card charge.

  14. Do you accept Autograph or Dual Service submissions?

At the moment, we do not offer this service.

  15. How do I determine if my cards are worth grading?

There are many reasons to grade a card including verifying authenticity, increasing the value, or simply protecting a card in your collection. If you are wondering if grading the card will increase its value, we recommend comparing sold prices on eBay between raw cards and the range of grades you believe your card may receive. We offer a $5.00 per card service for review where we will assess the potential grade of a card and let you know if we think it is a good idea to submit the card for grading. The review is subjective but comes from those who have experience in the industry as well as using tools to assess if there are any issues.

  16. How do I know if my cards are ready for pick-up?

You will receive an email when your cards are ready for pickup. If we do not hear from you, we will send out another email and try other forms of contact.

  17. What happens to my cards once I drop them off for submission?

Our submissions expert inputs your information into our personal card submission tracker and inputs any relevant, non-personal information into a submission tracking spreadsheet so you can stay updated. Your cards will be input into PSA’s submission form and organized securely. Your cards will be carefully packaged and shipped out to PSA’s grading facility and PSA will handle the rest. When your cards are returned, they are organized and labeled securely and we will notify you when they are available for pickup.

  18. Can I sell you my cards once they are back from grading?

We do accept trade-ins for cash or store credit, but be mindful that we may not accept every card that you would like to sell.

  19. I believe my grade is incorrect or my card has been damaged. Is there anything you can do about that?

We will open a claim with our shipping carrier and/or PSA for any damaged/lost cards. For grade discrepancy, we do not handle that on our end.

  20. My card received a weird grade, what do these numbers and letters mean?

PSA’s website has a section called “No Grade Definitions” that will explain in detail what those grades mean. PSA Grading Standards
